On my cruise itinerary I had a free day in Buenos Aires to enjoy prior to the commencement of my cruise. I arrived early in the morning to my hotel and decided to do one of the optional add on city tours that was on offer. It took a few hours and went through the main sights of BA including La Boca, Palermo and Recoleta. I enjoyed the tour but I had actually spent 3 months living in BA a few years ago so it was more of a memory refresher than a new experience. The city has a lot of diversity from the colourful Boca to the endless 14 acre La Recoleta Cemetery with its decorative vaults and tombs.
TIP -The one thing you must do while in BA is get a steak and a glass of Malbec, I was not previously a fan of red wine prior to living in BA but was converted by the end of the my trip and the Argentine steaks are legendary. If you really want an experience try La Cabrera, amazing service and fantastic steaks well worth a visit and if you fancy a mojito check out the courtyard bar of Milion.
In the evening I got my steak and Malbec and then enjoyed my last bit of internet as I had decided to disconnect digitally from the world for my entire trip (there is intermittent wi-fi onboard most ships but its expensive and really why do you want to be on Facebook when you have some of the most breath-taking scenery in the world outside? Posting pictures can wait until you get home).
