The morning cruise today was cancelled due to too much ice so the ship headed north to find another landing site where there was still water and plenty of floating ice. The landing site for today was Neko harbour which was a previously cancelled landing site. It is an interesting place with lots of floating ice and still water. The landing involved a bit of a hike and there was wide selection of penguins with Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adele to see. I was not that keen on the hike as half way up the hill offered the same view as the top but it was a single file route around the island anyway. The view from the top was not bad, although a large group of Chinese tourists had taken over the main picture sport so getting an isolated photo was a bit of a problem.
After the hike there trip around the island continued and again there were lots of Penguins and surrounding glaciers and mountains which I guess you start to take for granted after a while. It is probably the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the world and sometimes you have to pause and take a moment to remember how lucky you are to be in such as place and seeing this unique and unspoiled landscape.
There were no other landings that day but there was a crew talent show at 10pm which I visited and although it is the standard cheesy cruise show it was actually not bad. The bar was packed for a change and afterwards I joined a group of Norwegian guests who I had been drinking with for the past couple of nights and enjoyed a few beers and Tequila (bought by a very drunk America girl!). It was a bit of a late finish with my group leaving at 1.15am.
